Blood Donation Camp Held at Don Bosco College of Engineering

The NSS Unit of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda, in association with the Blood Bank of Hospicio Hospital, Margao, organised a Blood Donation Camp on 7th October 2026 at the college premises. A seven-member team from the blood bank, led by Dr. Ravin Rego, visited the institute to conduct the blood collection drive. The programme was attended by Rev. Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Director of DBCE, and Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal of the institute.

The camp witnessed an encouraging response, with 58 students and staff members volunteering to donate blood. However, following medical screening, 18 were found ineligible to donate due to factors such as low haemoglobin levels, blood pressure variations and other medical conditions. Consequently, 40 donors successfully donated blood, making a valuable contribution towards saving lives and supporting patients in need.

This was the first blood donation camp organised by the NSS Unit during the academic year 2026–2027. The camp was coordinated by Dr. Chetan Gaonkar, NSS Programme Officer, along with the support of NSS volunteers and the blood bank team, which contributed to the successful conduct of the initiative.

The programme highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged students and staff to contribute to this vital community service.
