Third Year Mechanical Engineering Students of DBCE Visit Goa Shipyard Limited

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized an industrial visit for the Third Year Mechanical Engineering students to Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco da Gama, Goa, on 28th August 2026. The students were accompanied by Dr. Suraj Marathe, Dr. Ajit Salunke, Prof. Gaurish Samant, and Prof. Anish Bandekar and Mr Dattaguru Sawardekar.

The visit was coordinated by Ms. Nisha Naik from the Training Department. Mr. Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Senior Manager (HR) conducted the introductory session. He briefed the students about the company’s history, quality standards, industrial practices, and safety measures. Mr. Chimulkar, official from the apprentice cell guided the students during their tour of GSL’s shipbuilding facility. They had the opportunity to observe advanced shipbuilding processes and machinery used in the shipbuilding division. The students witnessed the hull manufacturing process, sheet-metal cutting operations, and various stages involved in ship construction. They also observed ship repair activities being carried out on Coast Guard vessels.

The visit provided the students with valuable practical exposure to shipbuilding technology, manufacturing processes, ship repair operations, and quality-control practices followed in a large-scale industrial setup.

The industrial visit was coordinated by Dr. Ajit Salunke and Prof. Gaurish Samant, with the support of Dr. Suraj Marathe, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
