The Mechanical Engineering Students’ Council (MESH) and the Electronics and
Computer Science Engineering Students’ Council (ECSInC) of Don Bosco College
of Engineering (DBCE) jointly celebrated Engineers’ Day and conducted the
installation ceremony of their respective committees for the academic year
2026–27 on 25th September 2025. The occasion also witnessed the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Goa Chamber of Commerce
& Industry (GCCI) and DBCE, marking an important step towards strengthening
industry–academia collaboration.
The function was graced by Ms. Pratima Dhond, President of the Goa Chamber of
Commerce & Industry (GCCI), as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Keshav Bhat, Deputy
Manager, IFB Industries Ltd., as the Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker. The
ceremony was also graced by Fr. Ralin De Souza, Rector; Fr. Wilfred Fernandes,
Director; Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal; Dr. Suraj Marathe, Head of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering; and Dr. Vidya D.S., Head of the
Department of Electronics and Computer Science.
Ms. Pratima Dhond highlighted the importance of developing engineers who can
go beyond technical knowledge and become effective problem solvers. She
emphasised the need for stronger interaction between educational institutions and
industry through industry visits, internships, mentoring, technical sessions, projects
and exposure to real-world challenges. Mr. Keshav Bhat spoke on “From Engineer
to Problem Solver: The Power of Lean Six Sigma.” His address focused on the
importance of structured problem-solving, process improvement and the
application of engineering knowledge to achieve measurable improvements in
industry. Dr. Neena Panandikar welcomed the dignitaries and congratulated the
newly formed Council members. Fr. Wilfred urged the students to embrace the
challenges they encounter during their engineering journey and use them as
opportunities to learn, grow, and develop their skills. Fr. Ralin lauded the
important role of engineers in serving society and, drawing from his own
experiences, shared how engineers had successfully designed and developed a
cable car lift in Italy.
Ms. Jeziah D’Souza assumed office as the Chairperson of the newly constituted
ECSInC Council, while Mr. Veig Karmali took over as the Chairman of MESH.
The event also featured the felicitation of Mr. Rudraksh Sardesai, a DBCE
Mechanical Engineering alumnus, for securing the Gold Medal for standing first in
the Higher Degree Programmes at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. The
