The Hacktoberfest Hackathon 2026, organised by the DBCE Coders Club, was held on
31st October 2026 at Seminar Hall 1, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. The
event aimed to promote innovation, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving among
students while providing them with an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge to
practical challenges.
The programme began at 9:00 AM with an introduction by Aliya Saldanha, Events Head
of the DBCE Coders Club. She welcomed the participants and provided an overview of
the hackathon, explaining its purpose and encouraging the teams to make the most of
the opportunity.
A total of 14 teams from different colleges participated in the hackathon. The event
brought together students with different technical backgrounds, ideas, and approaches
to problem-solving. Throughout the competition, the teams worked on developing their
solutions, applying their technical skills, and collaborating with their teammates to
complete their projects.
A lunch break was conducted at 12:30 PM, during which lunch was provided to all
participants by the DBCE Coders Club. The competition resumed afterwards, with
teams continuing to work on their projects and refine their solutions. A snacks break
was provided at 4:00 PM, with refreshments arranged by the DBCE Coders Club itself,
allowing participants to refresh before the final activities.
The judging process was conducted at 3:00 PM, during which the participating teams
presented their projects and solutions for evaluation. The projects were assessed based
on their ideas, implementation, creativity, and overall presentation.
The hackathon provided a platform for participants to showcase their creativity,
exchange ideas, and gain practical experience in project development. It also
encouraged interaction among students from different colleges, allowing them to learn
from one another and experience the challenges of working under time constraints.
After the completion of the competition, the prize distribution ceremony was conducted
at 4:45 PM. The winning teams were recognised and awarded for their efforts,
innovative ideas, and performance during the hackathon. The ceremony marked the
conclusion of the day's activities.
Overall, Hacktoberfest Hackathon 2026 was a successful initiative by the DBCE Coders
Club. It provided students with valuable exposure to competitive project development,
encouraged collaboration, and created an environment for learning and innovation. The
participation of 14 teams from different colleges made the event a meaningful
experience for everyone involved.
