On 23 October 2026, Asst. Professor Amey D. S. Kerkar was invited as a resource person for a one-
day workshop titled “AI-Empowered Math Education: Tools for Content Creation, Visualization and
Competency Assessment,” organised by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education (GBSHSE), Government of Goa, for Higher Secondary Mathematics teachers following the
NCERT curriculum. The workshop witnessed an overwhelming response, with 120 teachers
participating.
The session introduced participants to Artificial Intelligence, prompt engineering, and tools such as
ChatGPT and its plugins, Google Gemini Notebook, Perplexity, Claude, Canva AI, and Gamma. Hands-
on demonstrations focused on generating lesson plans, question papers, student assessments,
constructive feedback, and educational presentations, in alignment with NEP 2020. The session also
highlighted AI hallucinations and strategies for verifying AI-generated content.
The workshop marked a valuable step towards familiarising Higher Secondary Mathematics teachers
with emerging AI technologies and equipping them with practical skills to integrate these tools
responsibly and effectively into their teaching practices.
The workshop concluded by emphasising that AI is designed to assist teachers, not replace them,
with teachers retaining the final responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, pedagogical relevance, and
quality of AI-generated educational content.
