DBCE student Sanath Bharne helps the needy during COVID 19

During the lockdown in wake of the COVID 19 situation, Sanath Shailesh Bharne, an aspiring Engineer, Entrepreneur, Poet, social worker, environmentalist and a public speaker took the initiative to work towards a safer nation by serving the society.  Sanath’s company “Bharne & Bharne”  has provided more than fifty 3D printed Face Shields and multiple use masks (with a replaceable filter) to Doctors, Medical Staff, cleaners etc.  absolutely free of cost. Being the joint treasurer of  “YUVA Panaji” a National Award winning organization which works and strives for the welfare of the society in the fields of youth empowerment, environment/ disaster management, women empowerment and welfare of senior citizens, he was actively involved in distribution of cooked food and groceries to the poor, senior citizens and the needy. The organisation has also distributed face shields to doctors in private clinics in and around Panaji, that helped needy patients in this lockdown period.

Currently pursuing his BE in Mechanical Engineering from Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Sanath has numerous feats to his credit at a very young age.  He brought laurels to DBCE  by winning the 1st Place in All Goa Waste Management Hackathon 2020, which was organised by the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) and Goa State Innovation Council (GSIC). His project Mini Solid Waste Segregator also secured 2nd place at Green Audit 2019 at DMC College, Assagao and 1st Place at Kshitij 2019, Annual Project Exhibition at DBCE.

Being an accomplished student in his school days, Sanath was the recipient of Best Volunteer Award 2016, Excellence in Literary Work Award 2016 and Leadership Quality Award 2016 at Mushtifund High School, Panaji. He was the winner of Goa Quiz 2016 and won several prizes in Elocution Competitions. His other notable achievements are 1st Place in All Goa Konkani One Act Play Competition 2015 at Kala Academy, Panaji, Prizes in other One Act Play/ Drama Competitions. Having actively participated in Student Parliament Sessions, he has also given talks to school students on Solid waste management. Presently he is working on a prototype of 150 cc Bike Engine which can operate on Calcium Carbide. Recently he was interviewed by All India Radio, Panaji Station.

Entrepreneurial Journey

At the age of 14, Sanath founded the business group “Bharne Business Ventures”. 5 years later, the first company of this group was founded and currently this company trades in stationery supplies, measuring instruments, 3D printing and allied products & services. His second venture is an Online Trading/Shopping Website BLOOPOUND.com launched in April 2020.

Social Welfare Activities

Sanath first started his journey towards social service at the age of 16 by spreading awareness about the various social welfare schemes of the Govt.  He also has been amongst the frontline volunteers in organizing “Swachh Bharat” awareness rallies. In the year 2018, he joined “YUVA”.

 Literary Contributions

Sanath is a keen observer and likes to pen down his observations in the form of poetry. He has written more than 50 poems in Konkani, Hindi and English languages.

His notable works include

  • Oesteogenic Sarcoma (Bone Cancer)- a 1200 words article in Konkani language on the topic “Bone Cancer” Ft. Dr. Ulhas Nachinolkar, Orthopaedic surgeon.
  • Kavyahotra 2015 – Part of a Guinness book of world records & Limca book of records, 48 hours marathon poetry recitation in Indian Languages
  • KAVYAHOTRA 2016 – Part of a Guinness book of world records & Limca book of records, 76 hours marathon poetry recitation in Indian Languages

His Hobbies include Music, Tabla (Tritiya Shikshit), Cooking, Public speaking, Craft creativity  and Wood working
