12th Annual Day 2023
The 12th Annual Day of Don Bosco College of Engineering was held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Goa.
The event commenced with a beautiful prayer dance, symbolizing the celebration, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp to mark a propitious beginning.
Dr. Neena Panandikar, the Principal, delivered a warm welcome address, followed by a department-wise PowerPoint presentation of the College Annual report.
The gathering was welcomed by Fr Kinley D’Cruz, the Director, and Fr Ralin Dsouza, the Rector, shared their thoughts and well wishes with everyone present.
Dr. Kala Nayak, the Registrar, announced the list of toppers, who were honored with certificates, gold and silver medals, and mementos. Additionally, Ms. Elaine Dias, the Counselor, announced various scholarship programs for deserving candidates. The sports awards were presented by Sir Ryan Pereira, the Director of Physical Education at the college.
The esteemed guests released the college magazines, Beacon and Connections, during the event.
The guest of honor, Ms. Tejashri Pai, expressed her enthusiasm for both the cultural and academic performances. She encouraged the students to seize opportunities and grow, sharing her own life experiences as an example of the power of determination and perseverance. Ms. Pai emphasized the importance of self-development and gaining confidence, reminding students that academics alone should not be their sole focus.
The chief guest, Prof. Suman Kundu, congratulated the faculty and appreciated the efforts of the alumni. He advised the students to enjoy their time in college, while also acquiring knowledge. Prof. Kundu said to students “to build a strong foundation and grasp important concepts, and urged them to avoid getting caught up in a competitive race and instead focus on nurturing lasting friendships”.
The stage was then set for some entertaining performances, starting with an impressive fashion show featuring the Computer Department and the Mechanical Department, as well as a singing performance by Jolten and Griffen, students from the BE Mechanical 1 class. The faculty members’ mesmerizing dance performance was enjoyed by all, and the computer and mechanical departments also showcased their dancing skills. A highlight of the evening was a dance performance by the students who had represented the college and won first place at the intercollegiate event, K-OSS Goa.
The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Michelle Araujo, and Prof. Harison Cota announced B.E. Mechanical 2 as the winners of Procyon 2023, Runners up were FE Computers and 2nd Runners up were BE Mech 1 and BE Comp. With that, the curtains closed on another successful year.
