A session on raising awareness about dating violence and its consequences
A session was held on October 16, 2023, for First year students from the ECS and Civil departments. The guest speaker was Judge Sayonara Telles-Laad, the President District Judge Cadre of the Children’s court for the state of Goa. The session focused on raising awareness about teen dating violence and its consequences. Judge Sayonara discussed how youth may experience symptoms of depression and anxiety, engage in unhealthy behaviors, and exhibit antisocial behaviors as a result of dating violence. She highlighted that dating violence can take various forms, including sexual assault, harassment, threats, physical violence, verbal and emotional abuse, social sabotage, and stalking. Judge Sayonara also emphasized the importance of being cautious about online grooming and sharing personal pictures. She provided insights into the POCSO Act and the legal rights of students. This session was coordinated by Counselors Ms Elaine Dias and Ms Mancia Lobo.
