The sessions were scheduled from 9:15 a.m to 11:00 a.m. and were conducted on the Microsoft Teams platform, providing participants with valuable insights into advanced concrete applications in civil engineering.

The sessions were led by various faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department of DBCE , each addressing specific topics:

  • 11/23/2024 – Asst. Prof. Jeffrey Valadares
Topic: Piling Techniques and Foundation Structures

Prof. Valadares discussed the basics of pile foundations, types of piles, and various methodologies used in piling. The session also covered the applications of piling in construction. A Q&A session followed the presentation, allowing employees to ask questions and clarify doubts.

  • 11/30/2024 – Asst. Prof. Kaushik Pai Fondekar
    Topic: Durability of Concrete Structures

Prof. Fondekar focused on the challenges related to concrete cracking, shrinkage, and environmental impacts, along with strategies for mitigating these issues. The session highlighted ways to improve the longevity and resilience of concrete structures.

  • 12/14/2024 – Asst. Prof. Shruti Jambhale
    Topic: Concrete Pumping Pressures

Prof. Jambhale explained the mechanics behind concrete pumping, covering the pressure requirements and factors that affect pump performance. She also discussed the behavior of concrete under pressure, structural load-bearing, and how concrete plays a crucial role in large-scale construction projects. The session included insights on Putzmeister’s concrete pumping equipment and its application in the field.

  • 1/11/2025 – Asst. Prof. Genevieve Fernandes
    Topic: Concrete for Specialized Applications

Prof. Fernandes provided a detailed discussion on specialized types of concrete, including high-performance concrete, lightweight concrete, and fiber-reinforced concrete. She highlighted their unique compositions and specific applications in the construction industry, distinguishing them from ordinary concrete.

  • 1/18/2025 – Asst. Prof. B.R. Anirudha
    Topic: Structural Components

Prof. Anirudha discussed the importance of structural components like columns, beams, and slabs in construction. He provided an in-depth look at the role of concrete in ensuring the stability and longevity of these components, sharing best practices for improving the quality of concrete used in casting these structural elements

Each session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where employees had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek specific advice from faculty members.

This series aimed to deepen employees’ understanding of concrete technology and its applications in construction, ensuring they are well-equipped to support Putzmeister’s clients with knowledge and expertise.
