Workshop on Cognitive Skills, Design and Critical Thinking
Institution Innovation Council (IIC: DBCE) organised a FDP (Faculty Development Programme) on Cognitive Skills, Design and Critical Thinking for the teaching faculties of Don Bosco College of Engineering on Friday, 29th December 2018 at the Institute.
Prof. Vividh Pawaskar delivered the session on Bloom’s Taxonomy i.e. Taxonomy for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment model. This taxonomy draws attention towards the static notion of “educational objectives” and points to a more dynamic conception of classification. The speaker explained the taxonomy using verbs and gerunds to label their categories and subcategories with real life examples. These “action words” describe the cognitive processes by which thinkers encounter and work with knowledge and steps towards attitude, skills and knowledge with model steps : Remember—Understand—Apply—Analyze—Evaluate —Create.
The session was well attended by the teaching faculty of the college and coordinated by Prof Kiran waghmare under the guidance of Dr. Varsha Turkar.
