The ATL workshop conducted by Prof. Mohini N. Naik at ST Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa on 19th January 2019

The Atal Tinkering Lab, Govt. of India initiative to foster curiosity among the students. Prof. Mohini N. Naik is selected as a Mentor of Change by Niti Ayog, Govt of India. Under ATL, workshop was conducted by Prof. Mohini Naik, Assistant Professor, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda on topic ‘Ground station development and antennas’ on 19^th January 2019, at St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa . The workshop was attended by 11^th and 12^th STD students from science stream along with few other faculties of the institution.

The mentor opened the talk by introducing Antenna systems and communication systems in day to day life and satellite communication including various examples. The Mentor further stressed upon yagi antenna design and application. She gave a brief describtion about the ground station development and explained how to receive signals from the satellites. She also mentioned about the HAM radio license operator exam and benefits of the same.

The Mentor gave some hands-on projects to the students such as  Design of  Yagi Antenna, Design of LNA & Power Amplifier, Metal detector , Laser Security Alarm system ,Wireless DC Motor Speed Control using IR Remote and 555 Timer IC, 2 Digit Object/Product Counter, IR Transmitter and Receive.
