Workshop on “Safety at Workplace” in association with FSAI Goa Chapter at Kshitij 2019

One day Hands on Workshop on “Safety at Workplace” in association with FSAI Goa Chapter for school teachers- 25 teachers from around 17 schools& higher secondary participated in the seminar along with students of DBCE.

The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Jovito Lopez, Sec. General, St. John Ambulance who spoke about First Aid and the Golden hour to save a life of a person in case of a heart attack and also explained about ABCD of first aid, CPR technique, recovery position & steps to be followed in case of an emergency . Basic Safety was conducted by Mr. Suhas Naik, Chief OSH Consultant, SN Safety Consultants. He explained in detail the various hazards that are present in Mechanical Industries like Physical, Electrical, Fire and explosives etc through illustrations, photos and videos. The third session on Fire Safety was conducted by Mr. Ajit Kamat, Asst. Divisional Officer, North Zone, Panaji who explained the various classes of fire, fire tetrahedron and fire extinguishers. This was followed by a demo session from the firefighting team headed by Mr. Ravi Naik. The teachers got a hands-on session on the use of Fire extinguisher.

At the valedictory function, Mr. Ajit Kamat, Mr. Kulasekhar Kantipudi, President, FSAI Goa Chapter, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Prof. Ajit Salunke, Convener of Kshitij 2019 and Dr. Kala Nayak, Registrar gave away the prizes.

Prof. Sharad Shanbhag and Prof. Amrita Naik were the coordinators for the workshop.
