DBCE organizes a talk on Types of Wastes in Industry
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized an expert talk in association with Institution of Engineers (India), DBCE Student chapter on “Types of Wastes in Industry” by Mr. Kedar Kulkarni(Consultant for industries in 5s and Lean implementation) on 6th August 2019. The students of final year Mechanical department studying elective Industrial Safety and Six Sigma attended the session.
The program began by welcoming and introduction of the speaker by Mr. Reuban Gouveia. The topics covered during the talk were about the wastes in industry classified mainly as Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting Time, Overproduction, Overprocessing and Defects (TIMWOODS). Mr. Kedar also explained various methods that can be implemented to reduce these wastes. He also briefed about some methodologies like 5s, Total productive maintenance, etc that can help to minimize these wastes. The program concluded with vote of thanks given by Mr. Steven Fernandes. The talk was organised by Prof. Ajit Salunke, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department. Prof. Saurabh Raikar and Prof. Swapnil Ramani were the coordinators for the program.
