TECHNICAL ACTIVITY CARRIED OUT BY CENTRES / OVERSEAS CHAPTERS
On 31st August 2019 the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a one day workshop on Automobile Engineering for SE Mechanical-II Engineering students in association with Institution of Engineers (India), DBCE Student chapter.
The topics covered during the talk were basics of IC engines, Cooling and lubrication system for automobiles and electric vehicles. Prof. Raymond Joseph gave an overview of electric vehicles. He told the students that in recent years, many existing automobile manufacturers and new dedicated companies have put a remarkable effort in transforming the conventional vehicle into an electric vehicle that provides green and reliable solution. In terms of market share, electric vehicles demand is raising. With revolutionized perspective and competitive price electric vehicles is a smart choice for any end user, however, an extra effort is required to enhance the range of autonomy and vary applications. Prof. Sharad Shanbhag gave a lecture on basics of Automobile engineering, working principles of 4- stroke petrol and diesel engines. Prof. Saurabh Raikar spoke about the need for lubrication, cooling and transmission systems. He explained the different types of lubrication and cooling systems. The students were then taken to the automobile lab where the cut sections and models of different components of automobiles were shown. Different working videos of automobiles were also shown to the students. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Sharad Shanbhag.
