REPORT OF ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS SESSION
A session on Road Safety Awareness was organized as part of the Road Safety week by the Directorate of Transport, Government of Goa, in association with the Rotary Parivar, Goa, Rotary Club of Margao, and the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda on October 13, 2022 at Don Bosco College of Engineering.
The session was given by Shri. Dharmesh Angle, Superintendent of Police, Traffic Division (South Goa). Those present for the occasion included Mr. Deep Karapurkar, President of The Rotary Club of Margao, Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Mr. Harison Cota, NSS Program Officer, Mr. Satyesh Kakodkar, Faculty from Civil Engineering Department, NSS Volunteers, students and staff of Don Bosco College of Engineering.
At the outset, Mr. Cota welcomed the gathering, followed by Mr. Karapurkar providing an insight and purpose of the session.
Mr. Dharmesh Angle in his session said “Awareness on the road is very important for your safety and safety of others”. He discussed the statistics of various types of road accidents in Goa and explained the reasons that lead to these accidents. He further gave examples of various types of traffic violations and the penalties associated with them. Mr. Angle urged the audience to come to the help of road accident victims and stated that those who come forward are protected through the Good Samaritan Law.
The session was very interactive with the students and faculty asking questions while Mr. Angle answered promptly.
At the end of the session Mr. Deep Karapurkar presented a memento to Mr. Angle and Mr. Krish Sharma – NSS volunteer, proposed the vote of thanks.
