C-CODES COUNCIL INSTALLATION, 2024-25
The Computer Engineering Students’ Council and Civil Engineering Students’ Council – C-CODES and CESA organized the installation of the same, for the term 2024-25, respectively on 24th October 2024. The Special Guests for this occasion were Mr. Sujeet Shetty, GTA – President & Co-founder, Team Inertia Technologies and Mr. Pravin Kakode, MD of Upgrade Enterprises Pvt. Ltd.
The C-CODES Council, guided by Professor Merwyn D’Souza and previously led by Mr. Vedant Gad, will be continued this year under the leadership of Mr. P. Jayesh Naidu, maintaining a tradition of excellence.
The installation ceremony began with the lighting of lamp by the special guests- Mr. Sujeet Shetty and Mr. Pravin Kakode followed by the other dignitaries which included, Director – Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Principal – Dr. Neena S. P. Panandikar, Head of department of Computer Engineering – Dr. Gaurang Patkar, Head of department of Civil Engineering – Dr. Shweta Prasanna and the Chairpersons of both C-CODES and CESA.
Flowers were presented to the special guests and Dr Gaurang Patkar, in his welcome address, thanked everyone present and emphasized that leadership is not merely about holding a position but about positively influencing those you lead. He encouraged the students to participate in activities and take the initiative to step out of their comfort zones.
This was followed by an address by the principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar, who took the opportunity to thank all the outgoing members and the faculty coordinators of the councils for their dedicated service, while also welcoming the newly appointed members. She announced the launch of a Master’s Program in Data Science by the Computer Department and emphasized the importance of engaging in activities beyond the curriculum to better prepare for the industry. Dr. Panandikar then made an exciting announcement: for the first time, both Inspirus and Sanskriti- events organized by the Computer and Civil Departments, respectively- will be held together under the banner ‘Technical Fiesta-Part 1’.
The Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, congratulated the outgoing council members for a job well done and thanked them for their hard work and dedication. He quoted Albert Einstein saying ‘Curiosity keeps leading us down new paths, the important thing is not to stop questioning’. He implored the students to keep on asking questions till they get solutions, that continuous questioning is essential for expanding their horizons and gaining wisdom.
Following this, the outgoing C-CODES and CESA councils were honoured in succession. The new CESA council was introduced and felicitated by Mr. Pravin Kakode, while Mr. Sujeet Shetty honoured the new C-CODES council. The 2024-25 CESA and C-CODES councils then took their oath of office, pledging to fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities. The event concluded with a talk by Mr. Sujeet Shetty, who was introduced by TPO Dr. Norman D’Souza.
Mr. Sujeet Shetty began by introducing himself and briefly spoke about the Goa Technology Association, where he served as secretary during its inception. He emphasized that with the implementation of the IT Policy and Start-up Policy, the number of start-ups in the state has increased exponentially, making now the ideal time to pursue such endeavours. He further pointed out that while talent contributes just 10% to success, the remaining 90% is attributed to hard work, emphasizing that there is no substitute for dedication and effort. He discussed the importance of Industry-Academic partnerships to ensure students are truly industry-ready and urged them not to be confined by the curriculum but to ‘go beyond.’ The talk concluded with the presentation of a memento to Mr. Sujeet Shetty, after which Professor Shruti Jambhale introduced Mr. Pravin Kakode.
Mr. Pravin Kakode began his address by acknowledging the challenges in today’s world but emphasized that there are always opportunities for growth. He highlighted that intention, preparation, and practice are essential for excellence. He also stressed the importance of managing priorities, being mindful of financial management, and, crucially, pairing technical skills with strong interpersonal abilities as the keys to success. Additionally, he highlighted the need to unlearn outdated habits to make progress, rather than clinging to the status quo. The talk concluded with the presentation of a memento.
Dr. Shweta Prasanna, the Head of the Civil Department, expressed her gratitude to the council members, dignitaries, faculty coordinators, and students in attendance, thus bringing the installation ceremony to a close.
