Community Awareness Program by National Disaster Relief Fund

National Disaster Relief Fund

The students of Don Bosco College of Engineering attended the Familiarization exercise program held on the 5th of October, 2018, at the Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex, South Goa -Margao  from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The exercise program was given by the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF). They were formally introduced and warmly welcomed by Mr Raghuraj Phaldesai (Mamladar of Fatorda). The leader of NDRF ,Mr. Laluram addressed the crowd on behalf of the entire team. He spoke about their various achievements and also about the numerous incidents where they saved million of lives during natural man-made disasters. Mr. Vishal Rai a member of the NDRF, also delivered a  talk on CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). He also gave a demonstration on how to administer a CPR His talk included the importance of oxygen, different types of death and different points to pulses .

The second half of the session was conducted by Mr. Markhande, who spoke on choking, blood pressure control and first aid for snake bites. He demonstrated various techniques on first aid methods. Last but not the least, Mr. Sarvesh Kumar Yadav gave quick tips on how to tackle floods. He demonstrated the use of various equipments used during floods. Many of these equipments could be made by household materials. It was indeed very fascinating to see how one can use all the materials generally thrown away in such a productive and helpful manner. The sessions were very interactive. Overall 75 students from Don Bosco  College of Engineering attended the programme. Faculty that accompanied the students were  Prof. Satyesh Kakodkar and Ms. Grebian Alemao.
