DBCE Students Selected for 2nd Level Screening of All India DRDO Project Competition

Final year Mechanical Engineering students of Don Bosco College Of Engineering, Deepak Kolur, Prashant Gaonkar, Vinay Naik, Saideep Naik and Anay Kalghatgi have been selected for the Second Level Screening of the National level DRDO Robotics and Unmanned Systems Exposition (DRUSE) for their Project “Design and Fabrication of Disabled Friendly Wheelchair”.  It was submitted under the theme of “Robotic Assistive Device for Divyang  person”. The project is guided by Prof. Swapnil Ramani and Head of Department, Prof. Ajit Salunke is the co guide The project deals with design and fabrication of disabled friendly wheelchair with features like converting wheelchair into seating to sleeping/standing position, automatic bracing system etc. The system will be less power consuming and economical compared to the existing models available in the market.

This competition is designed to serve as an open platform to popularize and synergize national talent in the areas of robotics amongst engineering Students for conceptualization, design & development of Unmanned Systems for defense applications. The project is one out of the 165 projects selected nation wide for the 2nd round of screening. In the Second Level Screening the team will compete against 30 teams from the Central Zone comprising of Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. If selected for the Third and final round of screening the team will get to compete at the DRDO headquarters in New Delhi.
