To tune with the academics, the department of Electronics and telecommunication Engineering organized a field trip  to CSIR- National institute of Oceanography (NIO) and Bosch on 27 August 2019 for the students of Sem-V and were guided by Prof. Mohini Naik, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu and Prof. Priyanka Padiyar. Firstly, the students along with the teachers visited CSIR-NIO from where they went towards the visitors area. There was Marine Aquarium of simulated coral reef system, NIO technology of Autonomous Vertical Profile that profiles the coastal water, Autonomous  Underwater Vehicle (MAYA) for detection of hypoxia in fresh water, reservoirs and dams.

The students were then guided to N.K. Pannikar Hall where a film on Ocean life was screened. Learning that life in deep sea is slow and concentration of sea water remains unchanged . The session was then led by Scientist Dr. Pramod  who addressed about  some of the scientific challenges, how the control system play a vital role; the acoustic imaging done under water was being explained. Multiple ways to observe the ocean i.e. by CTD, satellite imaging or remotely operable vehicle that provides real time data was also explained. collecting the data by giving the trigger signal was also explained.

On arrival at BOSCH, the students were addressed to the Chief of Manufacturing department from where they were introduced to various sectors some of which were Logistic department, Invert section and Inspection. They were then introduced to different machines i.e. Vertical Form Fill and Seal machine (VFFS) and Horizontal Form Fill and Seal machine (HFFS), Intermediate machine, Continuous machine, Jaw draw and Belt draw machine. The continuous machine packs around 80 packages per minute and is sealed either by Heat seal system or Polyethylene Heat seal system having different styles of packaging such as Pillow packaging, Corner sealed packaging and so on.

The students were also fascinated to see the new launched project of BOSCH, Tera High Speed Machine that packs 150 bags per minute and is faster than all the machines.
