Field Visit to Turbocam and Techforce For BE MECH

On 13th and 20th September 2017, students of Final Year Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Turbocam Pvt. Ltd. And Tech-Force Composites Pvt. Ltd. Students were accompanied by Prof. Ishan Kossambe and Prof. Sachin Turi.
Turbocam is a global turbomachinery development and manufacturing company that specializes in 5-axis machining of flowpath components. The students were shown working of various CNC machines like horizontal, vertical lathes and milling machines. Machining operation of various components like nozzle ring, impellers, turbine blades etc. was explained in depth. Surface and sub surfaces cracks of the components are detected using eddy current testing. CNC operated coordinate measuring machine was demonstrated to the students. The students were guided by company training officer Mr. Gilroy Coutinho and senior machinist Mr. Richard Furtado.

Tech-Force is one of the leading companies of India involved in the field of Designing, Development and Manufacturing of FRP components for Automotive, Industrial, Railway and Other Applications. The company caters their services to various companies like Volvo, Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Tempo, L&T, John Deere, Hindustan Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Indian Railway and many more. The students were explained about composites and the manufacturing process. Manufacturing of Volvo bus panels and Pentair pressure vessel stand was shown to the students. The students were by guided development manager Mr. Manuel Coutinho and HR Mr. Roy.
The visit was organized by Prof. Ishan Kossambe and Prof. Sachin Turi. Overall it was a very enlightening and learning experience for the students of BE Mechanical.
