GATE Awareness session for B.E students

On 26th September 2017, the students of Final year, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, attended GATE Awareness session conducted in house by the faculty members of Rajaram Bapu Institute of Technology, Sangli. It was organised with a prime objective to make the students more informative on GATE exam and the linked benefits.

The resource person Dr. Abhijeet Shah; is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, RajaramBapu Institute of Technology, Sangli. He has completed his PhD from NIT Warangal. The other resource person Prof. Subodh Ingaleshwar, is a Professor in Electronics Engineering Department, Rajaram  Bapu Institute of Technology, Sangli. He is pursuing his PhD from VTU, Karnataka.

The session started with an introductory welcome to the resource persons who later on took over  the stage to introduce the students to the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). It is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science and as such the resource persons shared bulk information on the nature of exam; exam pattern and the important dates.

The benefits that students can seek on a good GATE score were also highlighted and some key benefits which range from an M. Tech degree from IIT’s; NIT’s and other top colleges across India; Placement in National and International private or public companies such as IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, PGCIL, BARC etc.; Research Fellow: ISRO, DRDO, BARC, CSIR, IITs etc. seemed to have attracted the students. In the end some tips on preparation strategy; tackling the question paper and the statistics about past scores were shared by the resource persons which can be believed to have a significant importance.

The session was concluded with a motivating interaction by Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, Don Bosco College of Engineering with the gathered students. As a token of appreciation; a memento was awarded to the resource persons at the hands of Dr. Neena Panandikar.
