Guest Lecture on Health ,Fitness and Nutrition for Engineering Students (Beyond the Syllabus)
The Department of Computer Engineering in association with C-CODES arranged a Guest lecture on Health and Fitness which was held in the S.E Computer class on 10th February 2018. The session was attended by the Computer Engineering faculty and 70 students of S.E and T.E Computers. The coordinators for the talk were Prof. Gaurang Patkar and Prof. Merwyn D’Souza. The resource person for the lecture was Mr.Gaurish who holds the Mr.Goa 2017 Title. He is the Alumni of Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda (2015 batch).
In his interactive session he briefed the audience on the importance of health and Fitness. He explained how to maintain proper health and fitness and elaborated on the required supplements to maintain the same, the basic Nutrients required for good health such as Proteins, Calories, Carbohydrates, Fats, Vitamins and etc. He further stated that the components required for good physical fitness are muscular strength, Endurance, Flexibility. He spoke about BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is the number of calories required to keep your body functioning at rest and the formula to calculate it was explained. As a token of appreciation a memento was awarded to the resource person at the hands of Prof. Gaurang Patkar -HOD Computer department. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Merwyn D’Souza,C-Codes Coordinator.
