Hands on session on Data Science Essentials using ParseHub
The Department of Computer Engineering in association with the Training & Placement cell, conducted a comprehensive hands-on session titled “Data Science Essentials” on 2nd August 2024, for the students of the Computer Engineering and Electronics and Computer Science.
Dr. Chinnu Mary George, Lecturer in Computer Engineering and Informatics, Middlesex University, Dubai, was the resource person for this session. Dr. George provided a foundational understanding of Data Science and gave a practical experience to the participants using ParseHub, a popular data extraction tool.
Participants were guided through the process of setting up and using ParseHub to extract data from websites. The hands-on exercises included real-time data extraction tasks, allowing students to apply their learning and understand the practical aspects of web scraping. Dr. George shared real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the applications of Data Science in various industries.
The session was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The hands-on experience with ParseHub was particularly valued, as it provided students with a tangible understanding of web data extraction, an essential skill in Data Science. A total of 65 students attended the workshop. The session was concluded by a Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Norman Dias.
