Hands-on workshop on Robo-Soccer Bot Building
The Robotics Club of our college (DBCE) organized a hands-on workshop on building the Robo Soccer Bots under the mentorship of Prof. Flavia Leitao, Robotics Club Coordinator. The event, held on 20th January 2024 in the Embedded Systems Lab, aimed to provide participants with practical experience in designing and building the soccer-playing robot. The resource persons for the workshop were Mr. Maynard Rodrigues, Mr. Loxley Dias, and Mr. Royden Baretto.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance participants’ understanding of robotics through a real-world application – building a soccer bot. This hands-on experience was designed to impart practical skills and foster interest in robotics.
The workshop began with a brief overview of the different types of bots such as the Line Follower, Robo-Racer, Robo-Sumo and Robo-Wars bot, but specifically focusing on the Robo Soccer Bot. The participants were shown videos on the operations of the different types of bots and how they are controlled and played for the Robotics competitions. Following the introduction, the different modules and the various components used in the Robo Soccer were discussed. The participants were then provided the necessary components for building the Robo Soccer. They were taught the design of the Robo Soccer and the application of the various mechanical and electronic components used on the bot. Under the guidance of the experienced members of the Robotics Club, the participants assembled the soccer bot from scratch, and also got their hands on the controls.
The Robotics Soccer Bot Workshop at our college was a resounding success, fostering practical skills and enthusiasm for robotics among participants. The event exemplified the collaborative spirit of the Robotics Club in promoting hands-on learning within the field of robotics. We appreciate the participants for their active involvement and enthusiasm throughout the workshop.
