IEEE – DSYA Programme on “Career Scope & Life Skills”

The IEEE Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) Student Branch in association with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs organised Skill and Knowledge Enhancement Programme on “Career Scope & Life Skills” on 17 December 2021 from 9.30 pm to 5:00 p.m. The event was hosted by IEEE DBCE SB Member, Ms. Athena Rodrigues.

Dr. Celso Fernandes, Managing Director Nave Marg Foundation, Goa was the speaker for the first session. He was introduced to the audience by IEEE DBCE SB Member, Ms. Sidhilaxmi Shenoy. In this session, he spoke on Finance Management and provided various insights on investing at an early age. Moreover, he explained the difference between saving, trading and investing. He highlighted the importance of the health and other insurances. He concluded by saying “Start investing money rather than just saving”.

The next session was delivered by Ms. Sneha Desai, Director, ITAPPZGLOBAL Technologies LLP. Ms. Sneha Desai was introduced by IEEE DBCE SB Member, Mr. Jefin Sam. The speaker discussed on Digital Marketing. She began her session with discussing on  dynamic and responsive website design and development concepts, wireframe, payment gateway and stripe for international payment. She also explained types of crawling, encryption and block chain, Google ads and sales funnel. Furthermore, she presented wordpress platform which includes plugins: inbuilt features that can be used to design a website, google tag manager, search engine optimization. The speaker said “Websites and e-commerce platforms are part of digital marketing and a current demand.”

Mr. D.S. Prashant, CEO,FiiRE, DBCE, was introduced to the audience by IEEE DBCE SB Member, Ms. Aachal Naik. The speaker started his session with Entrepreneurship as a career option. He stated that the income of an individual is dependent on so many various factors such as: economic development, market, political factors, etc. The speaker also specified to have an extremely strong “WHY” before starting on the journey to become an entrepreneur. With every success comes a ton load of failure, D.S.Prashant emphasized heavily that the journey of starting a startup consists of a lot of failures and ways how to deal with these failures. He concluded by giving the participants tips to build their Startups and the process involved behind building one.

Mr. Mandar Borkar, IEEE DBCE SB Member introduced Ms. Tandi, Co-founder and CEO, Cognicue Analytics Private Limited to the audience. She spoke about various topics on Personality Development like equality, personality development, body language and behavioural reciprocation and elaborated on the areas where, as an individual we tend to ignore completely. She said “The way we talk, sit, reciprocate, facial expressions are the eminent weapons to deal with critical situations”. The programme was concluded with the Vote of Thanks by, IEEE DBCE Webmaster – Mr. Nafiro Fernandes.

The event received an overwhelming response with some external participants. It was sponsored by Directorate of sports and youth affairs, Campal – Panaji. The entire event was coordinated by IEEE Student Branch Counselor, Prof. Yeshudas Muttu.
