Inaugural of Robotics Club of DBCE- ROBOCOM

The Robotics Club of Don Bosco College of Engineering, ROBOCOM, held its Inaugural ceremony with great enthusiasm and pride, for the academic year 2024-25 on October 26, 2024. The Chief Guest was Dr. T. Veerakumar, Associate Professor and head, ECE department, NIT, Goa and the Guest of Honor was Mr. Gilferd Gonsalves, Project Engineer, Sierra Circuits (India) Pvt. Ltd. The ceremony was also graced by Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Director-DBCE and Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal-DBCE, along with Robotics Faculty coordinator, Prof. Flavia Leitao.

The event commenced with the traditional Lighting of the Lamp ceremony, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and the beginning of a new journey. This ritual was followed by a Robocom Video, which beautifully showcased the vision, achievements, and upcoming initiatives of the Robotics Club, setting an inspiring tone for the event. The event featured a Floral Welcome for esteemed guests, followed by the Inauguration of the Robocom Council, introducing the dedicated council members who will lead the club’s initiatives.

To honor excellence, winners of Technical Events were felicitated for their skills and dedication. Outstanding Team Members were also recognized for their exceptional contributions to the club’s growth. Prof. Flavia added a personal touch by warmly highlighting each member’s unique impact and dedication to the club’s success.

The Principal’s address followed, where she commended Prof. Flavia Leitao, the Robotics Faculty Coordinator, for her dedication towards guiding the club, and congratulated all club members for their remarkable performance and achievements. The Director’s address then shared valuable insights into the importance of innovation and teamwork in technical pursuits, applauding the impressive growth of the Robotics Club from a small team to a vibrant, thriving club. The Introduction of the Chief Guest set the stage for Dr. T. Veerakumar, a distinguished figure in the field of robotics, who inspired the audience with his views on the transformative potential of robotics and urged students to embrace innovation.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Gilferd Gonsalves, a former member of Robocom and a pivotal figure in the club’s revival, then shared his inspiring professional journey. His story of transformation from a “block” student to becoming a standout in Embedded Systems, leading to his selection for Embedded Research at Sierra Circuits, motivated students to pursue their interests with resilience and enthusiasm.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Mr. Preston DSilva, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all guests, organizers, and attendees for making the inaugural function a grand success. The Robotics Club’s inaugural ceremony thus ended on a high note, igniting excitement and inspiration among all present, and setting a promising foundation for future endeavors.
