Inaugural report  for 1 WEEK ISTE STTP  on “A practical approach to IOT and its applications“

The Department of Electronics and Computer Science Engineering- Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with Government College of Commerce and Economics and Directorate of Higher Education Government of Goa has organized a one week ISTE STTP from June 12- 16, 2023 on “ A practical approach to IOT and its applications”, an initiative in line with NEP held on  June 12, 2023. The inaugural event was hosted by Asst. Prof. Samantha Cardoso and the event was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Anisha Cotta and Asst. Prof. Melba D’souza.

The beginning of the event was marked by the introduction of the Guests present followed by lighting of the lamp and then a floral welcome to the dignitaries.  The Head of Department – Dr. D.S Vidhya delivered the welcome address and emphasized on the importance of attending such workshops. Prof. Anisha Cotta gave a brief overview of what to expect over the next 5 days, the  various sessions and activities that would be held during the workshop were briefly explained . The Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar, extended her warm welcome to the Guests and to all present. She appreciated and encouraged the participants for showing their enthusiasm towards the workshop and motivated them to learn more about IOT and its applications in the world today.

The Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’cruz enlightened the paricipants through his wonderful speech by emphasizing on two quotes. First by, Loyal Jack Lewman, “Never stop learning; for when we stop learning, we stop growing “ and the second by Jaren L. Davis, “Motivation is knowing you are learning, growing and succeeding toward your desired outcome while sustaining positive momentum“.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Trilochan Panigrahi focused on the significance of IOT and the role that it will play in making the society an advanced internet ecosystem.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Niyan Marchon stressed on involving oneself, practically, in learning about IOT and its applications and also sharing the knowledge of technology with one another. He praised Don Bosco College of Engineering for being the pioneers in carrying out several activities for students as well as faculty. He expressed his willingness for any future collaborations.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by workshop coordinator Asst. Prof Melba Dsouza. A total of 39 participants registered for the workshop
