Industrial Visit to Chowgule Shipyard and Bosch Limited for TE Mechanical

On 10th February 2018, the students of Third Year Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Chowgule Shipyard, Borim Plant; and Bosch Limited, Verna Plant. It was organised under Mechanical Engineering Students Hub (MESH) of Mechanical Engineering Department.

Chowgule Shipyard at Borim are in to the buisness of Ship building mainly for the cargo based applications. The unit mainly has the facilities of fabrication. When the students visited, they were taken on the ship building yard where the on going projects of Netherlands were witnessed.Mr. Vishwanath Hanagi, Fabrication head at the Chowgule shipyard explained in detail the various segments of the ship building and also the tests that are required to be done in order to get IMO certification.

Bosch Limited; Verna is a segment of Bosch which is mainly in to manufacturing of packaging machines. They manufacture the packaging machines to cater to the customer needs. Mr. Derick Dsouza ,HR and Mr. Hardik Patel; Manufacturing Engineer explained the entire plant layout in detail to the students. Some of the ongoing projects were also showcased to the students. Different types of packaging machines such as HFFS, VFFS etc were explained and shown to the students.

The visit was organized and co – ordinated by  Prof. Suraj Marathe and Prof. Ramnath Prabhu Bam. Students of TE Mechanical had an enlightening learning experience.
