Industrial Visit to Cuncolim and Nessai Industrial Estate For SE MECH

On 23th September 2017, the students of Second Year Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Sri Shanta Pumps Pvt. Ltd, Rito Technie Pvt. Ltd, Asian Foods Pvt. Ltd, M/s Ashirvad Enterprises and City Aluminium Pvt. Ltd. It was organised under Mechanical Engineering Students Hub (MESH) of Mechanical Engineering Department.

Sri Shanta Pumps have varied business profile and manufactures pumps, parts of Ceiling fans, blades and stator winding operations. The students got a glimpse of various process in the manufacturing of blade components. It included cutting of blade from alumiminm sheet, bending it to predefined angle, degreasing of blades, powder coating, baking, asembling it with shank and final inspection procedures. They were also briefed about basic terminologies and safety precaution by Mr. Abhay Keni, Owner of Sri Shantha Pumps.

Rito Technie is involved in winding operation for ceiling fan stators and they cater to companies like Crompton Greaves. Various winding operations using Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines and their specifications were briefed.Other processes like quality inspection and functions of seqeuntial analyser were explained.

Asian Foods Pvt. Ltd. Is involved in food product manufacturing and its supply. Various machines to mix flour and packing techniques for custard powder was shown.

M/s Ashirvad Enterprises is a Pet bottle manufacturing company. Students came across through various plant operations where in raw granules are added into a chamber. It is further heated above melting point in a temperature controlled chamber. Molten plastic is blow molded in dies to get bottles of desired shape. The students were guided by Mr. Nikhil Kakode.

City Aluminium is a specialist in design, manufacture, and installation of aluminium and uPVC Windows & Doors and Coatings. Students were guided by Operation’s Head,  Mr. Shivkumar. They were briefed about various operations like fusion joining of uPVC panels, Powder coating, anodising and sublimation film transfer (wood). Manufacturing of various company products like doors, windows, shower cubicles and ladders were explained.

The visit was organized and co – ordinated by Prof Prof Ramnath Prabhu Bam and Prof. Raymond Joseph. Students of SE Mechanical had an enlightening learning experience.
