INSPIRATHON (INSPIRUS 2k19) – FIRST 24 HOUR HACKATHON IN GOA
The Department of Computer Engineering , Student Council, C-CODES along with its faculty members at Don Bosco College of Engineering organised Inspirus 2k19 for the third time on 19th and 20th of September 2019. It had various events organised under its banner; Code It Blind, Designer’s Paradise, Scavenger Hunt, Speed Bugging, Framed, Razzmatazz, Blueprintz, Fun zone and much more.
For the first time in the third run of Inspirus 2k19 a 24-hour non stop software hackathon “Inspirathon” was organised under the Inspirus banner in association with Forum for Innovation, Incubation, Research and Entrepreneurship (FIIRE).
On 19th September 2019, the hackathon began at 12 noon and ran continuously for 24 hours till 12 noon on 20th September 2019. Once the registrations were open, the organising team saw a huge response . The space was arranged keeping in mind all the needs of the participants. FiiRE arranged for the food and other refreshments for the participants and organisers.
Before beginning the hackathon the participants were told the general instructions and were briefed about what solutions would be expected from them in the next 24 hours. A total of 8 teams registered for the hackathon. The participants were from various engineering, polytechnic and degree colleges. The enthusiastic participants immediately started working on their selected problem statements that focussed on healthcare, resource management, event management, and other sectors; which was given to them two days in advance. This energy was truly appreciated by the Director, Principal and other delegates. The organisers made sure that the teams were getting their food, refreshments and water on time.
All the teams, along with the organisers stayed up all night with the teams working on their solutions and the organising team keeping a check on their needs. The teams were free to take as many breaks in between for recreational activities, but were not allowed to leave the venue of the hackathon. This hackathon also served as a great platform for participants as well as the organising team to network and know each other better.
The hackathon stopped at 12pm on 20th September 2019 and the judges arrived at 12:15pm. The teams had to present their solutions to the judges whereby they were judged on complexity of the solution, innovation, presentation, execution and the solution itself.
After the judging round the participants gave their feedback on attending a first time 24-hour hackathon. The teams commended the organising team for organising the hackathon very well and they also expressed their desire to attend the hackathon for the next edition of Inspirus.
