Inter College Technical fest – “TECHNOVA” held on Oct. 12th – 13th, 2018
The student association of the department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, organized a two-day state level inter-college technical festival, TECHNOVA 2018 on the 12th& 13thof Oct.2018 for aspirants assembling from various engineering colleges with the objective to showcase talents and skills in various competitions, exhibit ingenuity and innovations, interact with industry experts and students from other colleges and attend various talks and workshops.
The event was successful enough to attract more than 1000 students for the two day fest from GEC, PCCE, REIT, NIT GOA, AITD, BITS PILANI-GOA CAMPUS, Agnel Polytechnic, Goa University etc. The fest executed a total of 20 events and was organized at its best of quality.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sameer Neugui, Associate Consultant at TCS. In his address, he cited the importance of organizing and participating in such events that helps in the overall development of an individual and inculcates values like leadership, teamwork and management qualities that make the students ready to take on the professional world. The inaugural ceremony also included the installation of the new D-BEATS student council for 2018-19. Distinction and first class students of the final year batch 2017-18 and former DBEATS council members were also felicitated. Prof. D.S.Vidhya proposed the vote of thanks.
The various events that were held on these days are as follows: Technical – IoT Masterchef, Research it Out, Circuit Masters, Code It, Line Follower, Robo Sumo, Robo Soccer and Non-technical-Brain Jammers, Snakes and Ladders, Counter Strike Go, Mock it, Rock it, Mock YouTube, Fifa 18, Ex-Quiz-Me, Restricted Battlefield, Kick Off, Shutter Up, Born to Wander, PUBG and Carrom. Also talks on “Neural network security” and “Financial assistance and independence” were delivered.
‘IOT MasterChef’ was one of the Technical events held, which was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their skills. Students from different college and higher secondary schools from all over Goa had come to participate. IoT Masterchef consisted total of 3 rounds. In the 1st round a quiz was conducted, in the 2nd round students had to design a temperature sensor system and the 3rd round was to implement the circuit model of system on the breadboard.
‘Shutter Up’ was a photography competition which had around 20 entries . The participants were given a theme on spot which was “leading lines”
The valedictory function was held on 13thOctober 2018. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr, Rohin Parker, Co-founder and CEO of MRINQ. He briefed about IOT, its importance and applications. He also spoke about being honest with yourself, to have ideas whereby converting them to big dreams and focus on learning. The winners of TECHNOVA 2018 were Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi.
Prof. Deron Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. The winners were encouraged with a cash prizes for all the events.
