Internship on Hybrid App Development from 2nd to 14th July 2018
Department of Computer Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering organized a two-week Internship Workshop on App development using react-native for the Third Year and Final Year Computer Engineering students. The workshop was conducted from 2nd July 2018 to 14th July 2018. The resource persons for the workshop were Mr. Vibhav Kharangate and Mr. Shravan Hegde, Earnestek, Margao. The coordinator for the workshop was Prof. Kiran Waghmare.
The workshop mainly focused on developing an App by coding in Java-Script. In the first week of workshop, the students were introduced to the basic concepts of programming in Java-Script such as function declarations, classes and objects, Styles, Touchables, States, the Promise function, StackNavigator, etc. Also, the npm commands to install the necessary set-up for react-native app were taught with a detailed explanation.
In the second week, an App to store notes and view their description on the smartphone was successfully implemented by the students by coding in Java-Script. At the end of the workshop, the resource persons also conducted a session for students on presentation skills and public speaking.
The workshop was interactive as well as hands on, with simultaneous practical sessions conducted by resource persons. The objective of this workshop was to deliver important app development skills which would be beneficial to students with regards to their future final year projects. Students were encouraged and challenged to create their own apps and come up with innovative project ideas for various project exhibitions.
