Knowledge Sharing Session on ‘Buying a Car – The smart way’ & ‘Basics of Car Maintenance’
The Department of Mechanical Engineering held its monthly Knowledge Sharing Session, under the R&D cell on March 27, 2021 from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The first session was delivered by Mr. Joyston Menezes while the second was taken by Mr. Diptesh Naik on Recent Trends.
Mr. Joyston Menezes presented a technical talk titled ‘Buying a Car – The smart way’. The session highlighted all the important aspects to be considered while purchasing a new car. Several factors like brand, maintenance cost, resale value, expert/customer reviews, driver and passenger safety, convenience features that influences a potential customer towards selecting a car were highlighted by the speaker. Various aspects of the deal were also covered from the irrelevant add-ons, extra benefits that are on offer, insurance premium, warranty and selecting the right dealer. Certain critical aspects like availability, delivery, vehicle identification number, all relevant documentation and pre-delivery inspection were also addressed.
Mr. Diptesh Naik presented a technical talk titled ‘Basics of Car Maintenance’. Mr. Diptesh presented some basic tips on the regular maintenance of cars to improve their performance and reliability and also minimizing expenses resulting from emergency repairs. He covered the maintenance of cars concerning engine oil, coolant, brake and clutch fluid, batteries, electrical wiring, wheel and tyre care, body and paint care etc. He also gave some general tips to improve the performance of car utilities and concluded the session with some insight into important warning lights and the required measures to be undertaken.
The speakers were highly motivated in presenting and sharing their experience and were appreciated by all the attendees. The session was attended by teaching and technical support staff from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and coordinated by Prof. Mayur Shetti.
