C-Codes Matlab

C-Codes Student Association along with the Computer Department organized a workshop on Matlab. The workshop was conducted on 13th October 2018, for second year computer engineering students. The resource faculties for the workshop were Prof. Siya Naik and Prof. Ankit Kumar Tiwari. The coordinator for the workshop was Prof. Merwyn D’Souza.  The workshop was conducted in two sessions; morning and afternoon.

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a fourth-generation high-level programming language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization and programming. It allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java etc. Matlab finds its applications in Signal Processing and Communications, Image and Video Processing, Control Systems, Test and Measurement etc.

Students attending the workshop were exposed to Matlab Environment, syntax’s of Matlab  and were provided hands on sessions on commands to perform basic arithmetic computations, to declare and write programs using 2D and multidimensional arrays, vectors, decisions statements, loops, metrics, Plotting of graphs, finding the range of signed and unsigned numbers, to get ASCII value of characters, strings, write programs to find quadratic roots of equations, importing and exporting data from or to an excel file, implementation of algorithms and various complex mathematical computations were also solved.

The objective of this workshop was to provide students’ knowledge about MATLAB programming skills which would be beneficial to them with regards to their placements.
