NIRMANA 2K21

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) organized the event ‘NIRMANA 2K21’, an academic projects competition on August 25,  2021 from 9.30 to 1.30 pm. The event was held to give an opportunity for graduating BE Mechanical Engineering students to exhibit their academic projects virtually on Google Meet platform. A total of 12 projects were shortlisted to be presented to an expert panel of jury and faculties of mechanical engineering. Students of final year, and in particular 100+ third year & second year mechanical engineering students actively attended the event virtually to enrich their knowledge and get an exposure to projects that will help them take and work on projects in future. The judges for the event, Mr. Raghuvir Chary, Head of Fabrication Tech. & Erection Engg. Dept. in Government Polytechnic, Panaji; Mr. Sumukh Kamat, Founder & Managing Partner for The Energy Footprint and Mr. Yogesh Tarkar, ex-faculty DBCE Goa & an entrepreneur in Supply Chain and logistics were welcomed by Director – Rev. Fr. The participating students exhibited their projects with the help of presentations and model/demonstrative videos that helped all the attendees of the event understand the technicalities associated with the projects. The presenting students actively addressed the questions put forward by the judges and were open to all the feedback and suggestions provided to them. The virtual event was concluded with a general feedback from the judges praising the conduct of such events virtually during ongoing pandemic restrictions and also the enthusiasm with which students have worked and presented their projects. In praising the faculty supervisors, Mr. Sumukh Kamat said that “the faculty supervisors have really motivated and guided the students in taking wonderful projects that are worthy of commercialization, patenting or presenting in technical conferences”. Mr. Raghuvir Chary also expressed his views by mentioning that it was a memorable experience for him to have been invited for such an event while Mr. Yogesh Tarkar expressed his appreciation for the invite and said that “such events build the institute-industry connect wherein the students are able to present projects that can be correlated to potential industry problems/requirements”. The top three projects were identified and appreciated by the jury for award of cash prizes and e-certificates for all the project group members. Prof. Avil D’Sa proposed the vote of thanks to all the student participants, student attendees, judges, faculties and the coordinators of the event.
