One-Day Workshop on LATEX

The Department of Science & Humanities of our college (DBCE) organized a workshop on “LaTeX” on 23^rd March 2024. The aim was to provide a hands-on experience to first-year engineering students on the effectiveness of using LaTeX, an open-source, scientific tool, for technical documentation Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Science & Humanities of our college was the resource person for this workshop.

Participating students had practice-learning sessions which gave them a better understanding of the tool and its applications. The content delivery was as per the needs of every student, along with one-to-one interactions. As a part of the practical session, Mrs. Vaishali explained the basics of LaTeX and showed the use of LaTeX in easily written Mathematical Equations. Detailed explanations on the Basics of Equations, Math Mode, Mathematical Symbols,

Sample codes, Brackets and Braces were given by the resource person. She also demonstrated  how the sections, tables, Lists of Tables and Figures, are created in LaTeX. Creation of hyperlinks, and viewing of LaTeX documents with a PDF Reader was also shown. The usage of Beamer tool in preparing power point presentations was shown.

Every student completed the assignment given on LaTeX, on how to insert images, sub-images, equations, tables, and cross references in a technical document. Twenty students were part of this workshop.
