One week Training Program course on “Industrial Automation” at DBCE
Mechanical Engineering Department in association with Mechanical Engineering Students Hub (MESH) of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda organised a one week Training Program on “Industrial Automation” from 3rd to 7th July, 2017 for third year students.
During the Inaugural Function, Dr. Neena Panandikar, Principal, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the role of Automation in Mechanical Engineering. Fr. Kinley D’ Cruz, Director, highlighted on the role of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in the shipping industry where large container ships are seamlessly controlled. Prof Ajit Salunke gave a brief introduction to the course and said it would benefit the students for final year projects and job placements. Prof. Suraj marathe, MESH Coordinator was also present.
The resource persons dealt in detail about the automation in the present day industry. Prof. Devendra Sutar, Asst. Professor (ETC. Dept.), Goa Engineering, College covered basics of PLC, Ladder Logic Programming, Timer, Counters and Interfacing of Sensors & Actuators with PLC. Mr Rajaram Parsekar, Elementronix, introduced students to Arduino, an open source electronic prototyping platform, Microcontroller programming, interfacing with sensors , programming and interfacing for robotics. Mr. Sandeep Mone, Autotech, Mapusa, gave a demonstration of control of Pneumatic cylinders, motors using PLC and also introduced variable Frequency Drives. Prof. Darshata Naik, Asst. Professor (ETC Dept.), SRIEIT, Shiroda, spoke on “Communication with PLC”.
Asst. Prof Manjunath Narwate and Asst. Prof. Raymond Joseph coordinated the workshop.
