Report of Bootcamp 2020 on Innovation, Creativity and Startups

Bootcamp 2020

The Entrepreneurship-Cell (E-cell) and Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC) of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda-Goa along with Goa State Innovation Council (GSInC) organized Bootcamp 2020 on Innovation, Creativity and Startups for students of Don Bosco College of Engineering. Google meet webinar was held on  October 30, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

The first resource person for the webinar was Mr. Sudip Faldesai, Project Officer from GSinC. He spoke about various schemes and grants that are available for students for innovative projects. He also spoke about facilities available at prototyping lab in DBCE and Virtual Idea Register portal available on GSInC website to register innovative ideas and get a grant for patent. The second resource person was a renowned TEDx speaker, Mr. Abhay Valsangkar. Mr. Abhay spoke about 3 ingredients of success and shared his life experiences in building a Startup Alterego. He engaged students with interesting questions, ideas and life hacks to build a successful career.

Bootcamp 2020 -1

The third session was taken by two speakers Mr. Debasis Doki and Mr. Johon Srivastava from AJ Defense System, a defence based Startup. The speakers who recently graduated from Jain University spoke about the various startups they own since second year of engineering college and how they came up with AJ Defense Systems. They motivated students to find a problem and then try to solve it with their creative ideas. They spoke about their startup failures and told the students not to get disappointed if things don’t take shape and keep working hard till they achieve their goals. Mr. Sushant Surlakar from Emerging Minds Academy was the next speaker who spoke about the process of starting a startup. He spoke about the whole process and its intricacies of creating a statup company. The final speaker for the event was Mr. Venugopal TR, incubation manager at Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship (FiiRE) who spoke about importance of incubation and supporting schemes which are available for budding students to start their journey of owning a startup company with FiiRE. Students asked a lot of question to the speakers and got all their doubts cleared. The session ended with Dr. Shreyas Simu thanking all the speakers for sharing their experiences, knowledge and time for the event. He also thanked E-cell members, IIC members, TPO- Ms. Avila Naik and Principal -Dr. Neena Panandikar for their help and support in making this event a grand success.
