For First Year Students :

A NPTEL awareness program was conducted for the students of First year ECS, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil engineering on19th and 20th January 2023.A total of 160 students attended the session. The session was conducted by Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi (NPTEL coordinator for Department of Science & Humanities)

She explained to the students the procedure to enroll for NPTEL courses and fill examination forms as well as the timeline for January 2023.Students were given an idea regarding NPTEL Certificates, fee waiver benefit for SC, ST and low-income students. The importance of Domain courses, mentor, NPTEL Stars was also conveyed to the students .Students were made aware that the lecture notes of some courses  are also available in regional languages like Marathi, Bangali, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannad, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu etc.

Mrs. Vaishali Parakhi encouraged students to strengthen their learning and career paths by joining the online courses and stated how today’s digital era can provide education to every mind that wishes to learn and grow.

For Second/Third Year Students

NPTEL Orientation Program for Second Year Students was conducted on January 13, 2023 via online mode by Prof. Swaroopa Sail, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. Students were introduced to the list of courses being offered by NPTEL, how the courses are conducted, number of assignments to be answered, duration of each course, evaluation criteria, exam details. They were guided on how to enroll for the courses, types of certificates offered by NPTEL, domain courses  and domain certificate etc. Students were explained to about the credit courses offered by the Department to be chosen to earn 20 credits by the end of the eighth semester. The instructions while choosing the credit courses and advantages of enrolling for those were also shared. Students were nformed that they will receive BE with honours certificate from reputed institutions like IIT and IISC after completion of credit courses and domain certificate if they specialize in areas like Construction Materials Technology, Structural Analysis, Structural Design and Environment.

The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Computer science[Formerly known as Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering] conducted NPTEL awareness program for second and third year students on  January 13, 2023. The awareness program was conducted through online mode (Google meet). The program covered how to enroll courses and how to use NPTEL SWAYAM Portal in detail. The importance of domain certification, NPTEL Stars, benefits of fee waiver and exam registration was discussed. Second ,third  and final year students were given an overview regarding credit courses and MOOC courses. The Awareness program  was coordinated by Dr. Vidhya D. S, NPTEL SPOC. The importance and benefits of credit course,MOOC courses , honor degree was explained and also how to choose courses from the credit course list.

Dr. Vidhya NPTEL SPOC highlighted the benefits of taking NPTEL courses. Students were given an idea regarding NPTEL Certificates, fee waiver benefit for SC, ST and low-income students. Dr.Vidhya also discussed the importance of Domain courses and mentor. NPTEL course Registration & Exam enrolment form video was shared with the students.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted an online orientation program for its Second Year and Third Year students to create awareness regarding the NPTEL courses. The orientation was conducted on  January 13, 2023. The third year students were advised to complete a 12 week course to achieve the mandatory 3 credits required for them and were also told about BE(Honors degree) which requires additional 20 Credits which can be completed from the NPTEL Courses approved by Goa University . The second year students were also briefed regarding the same along with the Major and Minor degree requirements which will commence from this academic year for the SE Students. The students were also made aware about NPTEL registration and exam form filling. The session was delivered by Asst. Professor Sanjeel Naik who is also the department NPTEL Coordinator.
