Report on Two day Workshop on Statistical Quality Control
A Two day workshop on “Statistical Quality Control” was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Don Bosco College of Engineering on 7th & 8th November 2019. The workshop was attended by 7 industry professionals from Netzsch Technologies pvt.ltd, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. pvt. Ltd, Rosenberger and 2 faculty members from Megha Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana.
The first session on day 1 commenced with the session by Mr. Suraj Marathe, Assistant Professor .DBCE, who gave a brief insight on “Fundamentals of Engineering Statistics & Probability Distributions”. The next session was by Mr. Sanjeel Naik, Assistant Professor DBCE who explained “7 Basic QC Tools”. He covered PDCA Cycle, Check Sheet, Scatter plot and control Charts. He also conducted hands on session on the QC tools using MS excel. Third session for the day was given by Mr. Saurabh Raikar, Assistant Professor; DBCE covered the remaining QC tools i.e. Histogram, Pareto Diagram, Stratification and Cause & Effect Diagram. He covered his sessions using interactive case studies and solved the same using MS Excel.
The second day of the workshop commenced with a session on “Control charts for Variables” by Mr Swapnil Ramani, Assistant Professor DBCE. He explained the purpose and applications of the charts with the aid of a case study and conducted hands on session MS Excel on the same. He also delivered the 2nd Session of the day on “Control Charts for Attributes” with hands on session on Ms Excel. The last session on “Acceptance Sampling and Process Capability” was delivered by Mr. Suraj Marathe.
This two day course finally came to conclusion with a valedictory session presided by Mr. Sachin Mirajkar, Head of Operations, Netzsch Technologies pvt. Ltd. and Dr. Neena Panandikar , Principal, DBCE. Mr. Mirajkar praised the department for organising such an important and useful workshop for industry personnel and encouraged them to implement the knowledge gained in their respective companies. The feedback given by the participants was very positive. The course coordinators were Prof. Swapnil Ramani and Prof. Saurabh Raikar
