Rev. Fr. Pascual Chávez, Ex Rector Major, Visits DBCE
On 20th September 2024, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, had the distinct honour of welcoming Rev. Fr. Pascual Chávez Villanueva, the 9th successor of Don Bosco and former Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, for a memorable visit. Fr. Chávez was accompanied by the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Clive Telles, and was welcomed by the Rector, Rev. Fr. Ralin D’Souza, Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, and Principal, Dr. Neena Panandikar.
The day began with a formal introduction of Fr. Chávez by Rev. Fr. Clive Telles, who highlighted the profound impact of Fr. Chávez’s leadership in the Salesian family. Rev. Fr. Ralin D’Souza also shared a personal account of his past experience working with Fr. Chávez, emphasizing his deep commitment to the Salesian mission and his unwavering support for the young.
During his visit, Fr. Chávez had a lively and engaging interaction with the students. In response to their questions, he shared his extensive experience within the Salesian family and encouraged them to embrace the present with responsibility and passion. He inspired the young minds with his words, reminding them, “The young are the present,” underscoring the crucial role they play in shaping today’s world.
Fr. Chávez also took the time to visit FiiRE (Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship) and the Prototyping Lab, where he was given a tour of the innovative projects being undertaken by the students and faculty. He expressed his appreciation for the college’s commitment to fostering innovation and providing students with hands-on learning opportunities.
The visit was an enriching experience for both the students and faculty, as Fr. Chávez’s wisdom and insights left a lasting impact on all who were present. His deep connection to the Salesian mission, paired with his vision for empowering young people, resonated strongly with the Don Bosco College of Engineering community.
