Scholarship NoticeEdu Skills FDP on Google AI-ML
The faculty of our college attended the Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Google AI-ML from 8th to 13th July 2024 at Goa Engineering College. The participants included Dr. Amrita Naik, Kimberly Moraes, Gaurish Samant, Amey Kerkar, and Mathilda Colaco. The program was conducted by Mr. Pavan Kumar S V, Associate Manager of Learning and Development at EduSkills.
The FDP was structured into six comprehensive units, each focusing on different aspects of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The initial unit provided an introduction to AI, ML, and Deep Learning (DL), elucidating the differences between them and guiding participants through the process of building a simple neural network model using TensorFlow. This foundational understanding set the stage for the more advanced topics that followed.
On the second day, the focus shifted to Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Participants were introduced to the basics of CNNs and engaged in practical exercises, implementing CNN models on the MNIST and Fashion MNIST datasets. The sessions included detailed instructions on drawing neural network models and calculating the hyperparameters needed for each layer of the CNN, enhancing our understanding of model architecture and optimization.
The third day was dedicated to learning Kotlin programming and the basic layouts of Android Studio. This knowledge was crucial for the subsequent day’s activities, where participants created their first Android application, displaying “Hello World.” The hands-on experience of developing and deploying an Android application on mobile devices provided a practical perspective on integrating AI-ML models in mobile app development.
On the fifth day, the program delved into TensorFlow Lite (TFLite), where participants learnt to convert and optimize TensorFlow models to run efficiently on mobile devices. This included using CNN models in various mobile applications, demonstrating the practical application of AI-ML in real-world scenarios.
The final day introduced us to the Google Vision API. We explored how to use CNN models in various mobile applications, enhancing our understanding of integrating AI with mobile technology.
Overall, the Edu Skills FDP on Google AI-ML was an enriching experience, providing valuable insight and hands-on practice with cutting-edge AI-ML tools and techniques. Mr. Pavan Kumar S V’s expert guidance ensured that participants not only gained theoretical knowledge but also developed the practical skills necessary to implement this technology in their professional work. The training was particularly beneficial in demonstrating the potential of AI-ML in mobile applications, making it a highly impactful and relevant learning experience for all the attendees.
