SE Computer attend Javascript Workshop

C-CODES Student Association along with the Computer Department organized a workshop on “JavaScript”. It was conducted on 23 March 2019 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm for the second year computer engineering students. 31 students attended the workshop. The resource persons for the workshop were members of a startup up team “Internship Station” :Shubham Jha, Rahul Naik, Rohit Sankpal and  Akshay Saraf (Persistent Ltd, Verna), they are also the ex- students of DBCE. The coordinator for the workshop was Prof. Merwyn D’Souza.

Students were first asked to answer an online quiz, the questions were related to JavaScript. This was to check the knowledge of the students in this area.

The students were then given a brief introduction on what is JavaScript, it’s importance, and the platforms used to write the code. This workshop also included a simultaneous hands-on coding session. An overview of the syntax was also given.

The students were also shown how JavaScript can be used within an HTML code( embedded) to add interactivity to the webpages, also how to import an external JavaScript file and use it in the HTML code. The students were also shown how they can display window alert ( for error messages and outputs) pop-up. Further the students were taught about variables & objects, functions, arrays, operators, use of control flow statements, create forms etc.

Also, form validation using regular expressions were demonstrated to the students. At the end of the workshop, students were given a small activity where in they were asked to create a form that took information like name, date of birth, contact number, email and password. They were also asked to perform form validation on this form they created and display appropriate error messages.

Then students were asked to answer the same online quiz they did at the start of the workshop and check if they understood the concepts covered in the workshop.
