On 27 August 2019, the second year Electronics and Telecommunication  students of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda visited Siemens Factory at Verna. A total of 60 students visited the manufacturing plant. Here they learnt about control and relay module which helps in monitoring voltage and protecting the circuit and used in manufacturing of power grid followed by testing area, where the relays to be used in power grids are tested by binary inputs and outputs which can be controlled manually as well as from laptops. Fibre optics are used to send commands across the power grid. Circuits such as IC-61850  are used. In case of cyber attack, it has security features to protect it from foreign interference.

The students continued the trip and reached Infinity 3-D and CIBA( Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration) where they learnt about 3 Dimensional imaging and its applications such as in architectural prototypes, statues prototypes can be made before proceeding to actual constructions. Various types of 3-D printers are used for different types of printing. Different types of plastics are used for different applications. From there they went to the conference hall where the head of CIBA explained us how they are empowering start-ups and entrepreneurship and encouraging girls under the scheme of “Green light to girls” as a positive step towards equality. CIBA believes in “not in getting a job but in creating a job”.
