Seminar on Post Tensioning by Er. Shekhar Panandikar
A seminar by, Mr Shekhar Panandikar, an experienced engineer delved into the principles, applications, and practical considerations of post-tensioned concrete design and implementation to the students of M.E., B.E. and T.E on 19th April 2024.
Post-tensioning is a technique used in concrete construction that involves the tensioning of tendons after the concrete has hardened. This method introduces compressive stresses into the concrete, which counteract the tensile stresses induced by applied loads, enhancing the strength and durability of the structure.
Engineer Shekhar highlighted that the use of post-tensioning allows for thinner slabs and longer spans without the need for intermediate supports, leading to material savings and design versatility.
The session was an informative session that shed light on the complexities and advantages of post-tensioning in concrete structures. It underscored the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the field of structural engineering. A total of 72 students attended this seminar on post tensioning
