Internal committee of Don Bosco College of Engineering in association with Gomantak Yin Goa organized a session on POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act. The resource speaker was Advocate Sulekha Shetye Kamat.

The Speaker mentioned about the POSH Act which stands for the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. She also informed the audience that it is an Act to provide protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment. She spoke about different types of sexual harassment: i) physical contact and advances; or (ii) a demand or request for sexual favours; or (iii) making sexually coloured remarks; or (iv) showing pornography; or (v) any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

Advocate Kamat. also mentioned about the Prevention of sexual harassment, Constitution of Internal complaints, Composition, tenure and other terms and conditions of local committee, Complaint of sexual harassment, Inquiry into complaint, Action during pendency of inquiry, and Punishment for false or malicious complaint and false evidence etc.

The session was excellent and very informative. The talk was attended by the first year students along with teaching and non-teaching faculty members. The session was coordinated by Dr. Shwetha Prasanna, Mrs. Manisha Fal Dessai, Mrs. Elaine Dias under the guidance of Director- Fr. Kinley D’Cruz and Principal- Dr.Neena Panandikar.
