STTP on Six Sigma for Improved Quality Management

The Department of Mechanical Engineering Organized a One Week ISTE approved Short Term training Program on “Six Sigma for Improved Quality Management” from 13^th May 2024 to 17^th May 2024, sponsored by Department of Science Technology & Waste Management, Government of Goa, in association with The Institution of Engineers (India) Goa state center, and supported by Turbocam India Pvt Ltd. The Coordinators of the Workshop were Dr Suraj Marathe and Assistant Professor Sanjeel Naik. Around 20 participants from Industries like Turbocam India Pvt Ltd, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, Netszch Pumps, along with faculties from PCCE, SRIEIT Shiroda, Agnel Polytechnic Verna and our college (DBCE) participated.

The Chief Guest for the Inaugural function was Er. Anwar Khan, Chairman of IEI- GSC. The First Session was delivered by Dr Suraj Rane, Professor Goa College of Engineering on the topic Introduction to Six Sigma. Dr Sunilkumar Honnugar, Associate Professor from SDM College of Engineering, Dharwad delivered a Session on the topic Problem solving using Six Sigma.

The Second and the Third day Sessions were on the topic of Quality Control tools and Total Quality Management along with training sessions on Excel Software which was conducted by Mr. Vasant Pattar, Founder of Yashaswani Consultants Belagavi. Mr. Ameya Shirodkar, Quality Control Manager at Turbocam India Pvt Ltd delivered a talk on Statistical Process Control. Prof Swapnil Ramani and Dr Suraj Marathe from the Mechanical Department gave sessions on DMAIC Methodologies used in Six Sigma

A session on Design of Experiments along with Hands on Experience on the Minitab Software was conducted on The Fourth Day by Dr Ganesh Chate, Associate Professor, Mechanical Department of KLS Gogte Institute of Technology Belagavi who gave the participants an overview about the various concepts in DOE.

The Final day had a field Visit to Turbocam India Pvt Ltd at Margao Industrial Estate, Nessai where the participants were introduced to the Company and the various CNC Machines along with real time monitoring of the Process Control used by the company to Improve Quality.
