Students converted the Academic Project into a Start-up Product

Mr Shivdas Gaad and Mr Rajat Halarnekar alumina from Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda from the Mechanical department started their start-up Jatvam Abhiyaantrix Pvt. Ltd, under the guidance of Prof. Suraj Marathe. The product Glusher 1.0 which is a glass crushing that will turn into a powder has a size ranging from microns to mm. The machine was first prototyped during the Graduation final year project of BE Mechanical at Don Bosco College of Engineering. The prototype machine was designed by project members and fabricated in the college under the guidance of Prof Suraj Marathe and workshop facilities. The machine was capable of crushing waste bottles, tube lights, waste glass etc.

After completing the engineering, Mr Gaad and Halarnekar decided to take forward this project into a real product under the valuable guidance of Prof Marathe. They had approached Goa State innovation Council (GSinC) and FiiRE (Forum for Innovation Incubation Research & Entrepreneurship) and started their own company Jatvam Abhiyaantrix Pvt. Ltd. They had manufactured a glass crushing machine that will turn the scrap/rejects of the lenses used for making eye specs at GKB Vision Pvt. Ltd.

JATVAM ABHIYAANTRIX has come up with small compact machines that can help to reduce the volume of this waste. The startup makes custom recycling machines depending on your need. May it be glass crushers, plastic shredders, food composters etc.

The machine consists of a 3-phase, 3HP motor that powers the machine. Glusher 1.0 is built for sole application, i.e. to crush rejected/scrap lens stock. The scarp glass lenses are to be fed via the hopper by the operator and upon crushing the glass, the powder will be collected in the collection bag inside the machine. A Bag collection system is provided to reduce the handling of the glass powder directly by hand. This will ensure the operator’s safety i.e. he will be less exposed to glass powder. The machine has an output range of approx. 150-200Kg/hr. glass crushing capacity

The Glusher 1.0 can also crush glass bottles as well but has limited functionality. i.e. the paper from the glass bottle label needs to be removed periodically from the chamber.

With every date, counting on the calendar sums up the number of beer and alcohol bottles dumped around in Goa. We have seen tons of glass bottles dumped near waterfalls, public places, along roadsides and many more. This is the time we react to it; we need to take a step towards a better future. If such Small compact glass crushers and plastic shredders are kept in panchayats, every panchayat can become independent. This crushed glass powder is used in construction activities.
