Talk on Kitchen Waste Management
Our college hosted a talk on “Kitchen waste management” organized by DHRISHNI (Women’s Cell) on 23rd March, 2024. The event aimed at knowing the various cost effective and easy ways of converting kitchen waste into manure. Kitchen waste management is a need of the hour for household waste management, as it is reported that a large portion of household waste is generated from the kitchen. If this waste is not managed properly, kitchen waste can cause various environmental problems which would attract pests and create unpleasant odour. Apart from the above it can also lead to blockages in drainage systems and can harm the environment. There are various methods to manage kitchen waste which include composting, recycling and proper disposal.
Mr. Clinton Vaz, founder of “vRecycle Waste Management Services”, a firm that helps over 50,000 homes manage their waste in Goa was the speaker for the talk on Kitchen waste management. He has been working with waste management for the last twenty-one years. He demonstrated the conversion of kitchen waste into manure at the end of the session.
Principal Dr. Neena Panandikar welcomed the speaker Mr. Clinton Vaz, Director Rev. Fr. Kinley presented a token of appreciation and this event was coordinated by Dr. Shwetha Prasanna and Mrs. Swaroopa Sail which received significant participation from the staff members.
