TECHNICAL FEST – TECHNOVA 2019 ON 17th & 18th OCTOBER 2019
The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in association with DBEATS organized a two-day state level inter-collegiate technical festival, TECHNOVA 2019 on the 17th & 18th of October 2019.
The tech-fest aimed to bring together students from various colleges across the state of Goa and provide them a platform to showcase their talents and innovative skills with a competitive spirit. Besides that it provides an opportunity to get exposed to the current trends in technical and professional fields by interacting with industry experts and students from other colleges.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Jonathan Joshi in the presence of our Director, Rev. Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, Principal. Dr. Neena Panandikar, TECHNOVA 2019 coordinators and DBEATS Coordinators.
The fest executed a total of 16 events, each organized at its best of quality. Most of the events had a preliminary qualifier round followed by the semi-finals and final round. The various Technical Events held were, Line Follower, Robo Sumo, Robo Soccer, Circuit builders, IoT Masterchef, Code Warriors, Chart It Out, Tech Buzz and Technical CrossWords. Whereas the Skill Development Events comprised of Brain Jammers, Frame It, Speak up Stand Out, Sell It Out, Minute to Win It, Short Film and the Gorgons Gambit.
This year TECHNOVA 2019 received an overwhelming response in all its events and attracted a huge crowd from college like Goa Engineering College, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, V.M. Salgaonkar institute of International Hospitality Education, Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, etc.
A Workshop in association with IETE and FIIRE was organised on “PCB design and Fabrication” on 17th October 2019. The resource person was our very own alumni Mr. Toshal Madkaikar.
A seminar in collaboration with IEEE on “First aid using Electronic Technology”, by Dr. Jeedhu Radhakrishnan and his team was conducted on 18th October 2019, wherein he briefed the students on First aid and its importance during emergencies.
The valedictory function was held on 18thOctober 2018. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Ryan Pinto, CEO of Innovantix. Bringing out the importance of technical events he said that such events instill ideas of imagination, thus causing students to think out of the box. He wished that the element of curiosity should flourish among the students such that they prepare themselves for the dynamic scenario in the industry today, thus coping up with the current the pace of innovation. He emphasized on the need of students figuring out what the society needs, by constantly questioning the status quo.
Thereafter, all the first and second place winners were encouraged with a cash prizes. The overall winner of TECHNOVA 2019 was Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi.
The valedictory function concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. D. S. Vidhya. The entire event was coordinate by TECHNOVA 2019 Faculty coordinators Prof. Melba D’Souza and Prof. Michelle Araujo e Viegas and DBEATS coordinators, Prof. Deron Rodrigues and Prof. D.S. Vidhya. Mr. Nixon Coutinho and Mr Renvick Fernandes were the TECHNOVA student Coordinators.
